Great purchase
Finally free of ink cartridges. Although a laser printer is more expensive than an ink jet to get started, the longevity of a toner cartridge is awesome. This prints quickly and quality is good in both b&w as well as color. It does what is needed and worth the investment.

AVOID! Stopped working when toner cartridge ran out.
This product is terrible. After 8 months the Black cartridge has run out. I inserted the aftermarket replacement I bought. I have set the “cartridge protection” to “off”, but it is refusing to print– it keeps telling me that I have a used or counterfeit cartridge. This is a dishonest business practice on the part of HP, and they should not get your business. (Original Review…) I was able to set up with my computer, but my wife was unable to make it work with hers. The setup process could be smoother. The lack of double sided printing is a real shortcoming– very annoying.

Great Print Quality but WiFi Problems
I cannot full heartedly recommend this printer. The print quality is great but the WiFi connectivity is very suspect. After installing all the printer software on all the computers on my home network (3 in total) every thing worked well for an hour or so. After this short honeymoon period HP Smart on all my computers would inform me that my printer was offline. After fooling around with reinstalling software and restarting my router and modem I got it to work again but only for a short while before the same thing happened again. Being as how I’m not having problems with my computers communicating with each other, I came to the conclusion that the weak link was most likely the WiFi adapter in the printer. I was going to return the printer but after realizing that 90 percent of all the print jobs sent to this printer would be coming from only one computer I simply decided to connect directly to that computer by USB cable. If it were not for WiFi connectivity problems I would have definitely given this printer 5 stars. The truth be told, I can’t say definitively that the problem is the fault of the printers WiFi system but this certainly appears to be the case. That said I felt obliged to offer you my personal experiences with this piece of equipment. If your planning on connecting this printer directly to your computer via USB cable or making a network printer out of it by way of connecting to your router by way of ethernet cable then I wouldn’t be afraid to make this purchase. Good luck and happy printing. The printing quality on documents and charts is quite good.

Arrive with rat droppings in the box
This printer arrived with rat droppings in the box. It smelled horrible, and they ate parts of the protective material. The photos say it all.The printer itself was working and I was able to clean it to a reasonable level.Setup was easy as I’m using USB only and not the wifi. It prints ok, but was immediately complaining about low supplies, presumably due to the “starter” set of toner that was included. By “starter” they mean “minimally filled so you will spend another $300 on toner”.I did not connect it to wifi so it was unable to get firmware updates and reject third party toner.So, all in all, it works and does its job, but smell like rat pee and rat poop.

This is an older model, but it still connects to the Wi-Fi. I did have to download the driver on my work laptop so that it would work properly.
