Iâm 70, and remember trying to get a new printer hooked up to my home WiFi was a hair pulling nightmare.Those days are gone!I am delighted to report the new Canon Maxify GX1020 was a breeze for me to set-up.After downloading the Canon Print app to my IPhone the printer recognizes your existing WiFi settings from the settings on your phone.You merely follow the instructions on the printerâs touchscreen and it easily walks you through each step.You will be instructed to install the black and color print heads but they both are clearly marked and easily drop into place with no fuss.Absolutely no problems encountered.To get my laptop hooked up was just as simple. They provide a link to Canon that has the program needed to be downloaded onto my laptop for a seamless WiFi connection.The ink bottles were even easier to install and since they are GI-25 (as opposed to the more expensive GI-26) ink bottles, they are cheaper to purchase.The 3 bottle color set was only $29 direct from Canon! They claim a new ink bottle set can print 3000 copies.The first picture I printed from the photos on my IPhone is provided.Itâs on a plain sheet of A4 paper btw and looks fantastic.I think Canon got this one right.If you do a little research youâll discover it has many easily replaceable internal components should the need arise.I read through many reviews before making my decision to purchase this printer and Iâm totally convinced I made the best choice.I highly recommend this printer for home use.Update: I print our weekly church prayer list so I needed a reliable printer. I work from my laptop upstairs and the printer is in the basement next to the router and an old Dell tower computer (which also is hooked into this printer via WiFi connection).Well ⦠Iâm happy to say, so far, this Canon Maxify has accomplished everything Iâve asked of it.The copies print flawlessly on command from my laptop upstairs and they look crisp and clean.Should I encounter any issues in the future Iâll leave you another update.So far so good.ðUpdate 01-16-24 Well Iâve been putting this printer thru its paces for over a month and everything still working perfectly.BTW, LU2000 makes a printer dust cover that works great on this printer.Itâs measurements are 18.9â W x 15â D x 9â H and sells for $9.99 as of January 2024.Update March 18 2024: Well Iâve been using this printer for 3 months now and itâs still working great!Absolutely no issues.Donât hesitate purchasing for a good home printer thatâs easy to use and more importantly reliable.Still using original ink supply btw.Update: Well, itâs July now and Iâm pleased to report after over six months of constant use this printer has had zero hiccups. Nice inkjet printer – lame screen
Got this printer to replace an old & tired HP inkjet. First time to use an ink tank printer, and this Canon is impressive. Super easy and quick to fill all the tanks, zero spills. Prints are nice and crisp with good color. Cost to print should be much, much lower than any previous color printer I’ve owned. The one glaring downside is the ultra tiny, nearly illegible display screen. Last I checked, this was the year 2023. That screen is THE most pathetic excuse I have ever seen on any product, ever. Shameful is what it is. Is Canon serious?!?! Horrible in every aspect. Thankfully, you don’t need to use the screen all that often. That is why I could not give this printer 5 stars. Other than that abomination of a screen, I’m happy with how the printer functions. One other note.. the default of this printer is to shut off after so many hours. Problem is, if you try and print to it after it’s off, you’ll get an error (can’t comm. with printer). EVERY other printer I’ve owned, the default was to come out of sleep once any data is sent to the printer – and just print. Not with this Canon! You have to go into the Remote UI and change the settings to make that happen.

Difficult to connect and stay connected to network
every time I go to print I spend 30 minutes to an hour to have to setup the printer again to print. Worst printer I have ever owned! Instructions are not clear and even though my computer and printer are connected to same router if will always say offline even when turned on. Also, my very old HP had a wake up command that would wake printer when a print was sent, this one is in a coma!

I bought this to replace another Canon mega tank printer that was a couple years old. It had quit printing black. This new printer is WAY faster, quieter and has print quality approaching a laser printer (I’d say 90% of the quality of a good laser printer, most people would not notice the difference). The only downside I see to this newer model is the ink tanks are smaller. If you print high volumes daily. I would suggest going with the more commercial model that has much larger tanks. I really don’t have anything bad to say about this unit…. it does what it says it does and is a vast improvement over their offering a few years ago.
